Day Late and $1 Short- “So Beautiful”
Towards the end of your workday on Friday, you grab your phone with a grin and you tap on that green icon with the “1” in the top right corner. It’s a text from Trish expressing her anticipation for tonight. The good morning text she woke up to insinuated that you had a key evening planned. You keep looking at the clock and this day is dragging, so you open her Instragram pictures to view what you will be seeing later on tonight. Things are not that serious right now but you are definitely trying to be the ONLY person’s good morning text she responds to.
You send her a message confirming 8:30 as the suggested time of arrival with specific instructions NOT to eat anything and to wear heels. The last sentence of the text message reads “…just bring yourself. I got everything else. ” She texted back “You Sure?” followed by
. She loves that fact you are being firm and giving her specific instructions on her footwear choice for the night. The only thing she had an input in, was the option of having red or white wine. Minutes later, she sends you a random “Thirst Trap” picture (that she did NOT share with the rest of the world via Facebook/Twitter and or Instagram) that highlights her bountiful curves in a sundress with a “Can’t Wait Til Later” caption. You respond “So beautiful…”
You swing by “Total Wine” with 3 suggested wines in mind that you read reviews on earlier a work. They so happen to have all 3 in stock so now it’s decision time. 9% alcohol level, 11%, or 13%? If you go 9% percent she is going to probably need another bottle and might think you are weak for giving her juice. Can’t go 13% because she is going to think you have a hidden agenda. You just go with the 11% and grab another wine opener because you broke yours a few months ago. Time to get back to the crib and straighten up a little bit.
You get home have throw on your “Loafers and Heels” Spotify playlist (Loafers and Heels). Real smooth and relaxing, and perfect “I’m getting dressed because I have company coming over” music. You check your phone and see a message from Trish.
Trish: “You sure you don’t need me to bring anything?”
You smile because you love that caring.
You respond “Nah…I told you just bring yourself and you BETTER have them heels on”
Trish : “What if I don’t?”
You : “You really don’t want to know what will happen to you…”
Trish : “Oh Really? I hope we eat soon because you forcing me to STARVE *insert angry emoji with fist* ”
You : ”Don’t worry about it. I’m going to take care of all that…”
You finally gather your materials for the meal. Hop in the shower, finish getting dressed and put the finishing touches on with that YSL cologne you get so many compliments on.
Two soft knocks on the door…
You check the peep hole….Game time.
The door opens….MAN. Because you examine women from the feet up, you immediately noticed that she follows directions well and has on heels as you requested. You can’t do anything but smile because the only thing better than a beautiful woman, is a beautiful woman that KNOWS she is beautiful. That confidence. Her cocky but humbled mannerisms are displayed as she holds another bottle of wine with the “Are you going to invite me in?” expression is on her face as you simply stare. So Beautiful…
You : I told you that you didn’t have to bring anything
Trish: You know how I get down….I couldn’t come empty handed
You order her to sit down at the bar as you prepare her favorite meal. She has been telling you about her rough week, so you felt it was only right to treat her to a home cooked meal and provide this moment of clarity. As you are cooking, you catch her lip-synching along to your “Loafers and Heels” playlist with her eyes closed to Musiq Soulchild’s “SoBeautiful”. As she opens her eyes, she continues to sing along with the appropriate neck motions and maintain eye contact with you. You continue to watch to see if she messed up on the lyrics and she doesn’t….she LOVES this song.
Trish : You better stop looking at me and take care of that food…you know I’m hungry
You : I mean you just looking so…my bad! You right! I need to focus because you over there distracting me.
Trish : *As she smiles* I did nothing…over here chilling
You break out the wine that she brought over, and after about 3 minutes of struggling to open the bottle with your NEW wine opener, she sarcastically ask if you need any assistance over there. You turn around in shame as you finally get the bottle open and explain that you are working with a new/different opener. She continues to laugh as you try to explain.
You finally complete the meal and pour another glass of wine for each other prior to serving her. You observe her facial expression as she takes a bite and she loves it so far. She slowly nods and smiles before speaking, you could tell she was skeptical about bout testing out this first meal that you have prepared but you put that to rest. Great company, good food, wine, and exceptional conversation with someone that effortlessly makes you smile…what more could you ask for?
As you finish the last bottle of wine, you decide to watch a movie on the couch that she mentioned she hadn’t seen before and didn’t have the chance to catch it in theatres. You grab a blanket from the closet and hold her as the movie begins.
Trish : You comfortable? I’m not squishing you am I?
*Note to females. We will NEVER admit to you squishing us but you really do. ONLY if we really can’t breathe.*
You : Nah…Im straight.
15 minutes into the movie you noticed that she hasn’t responded to any of the action that went on in the opening scene and the way that she is laying on you, her face isn’t visible. You lean up….she is knocked out. Damn. Discouraged? Maybe a little bit, but think about it, you made her WEEK by extending an invitation to your crib for a relaxing night full of laughs, intimacy, and chemistry. You are winning because you just took a step closer to closing the deal on her heart. She is sleep and you are holding something So Beautiful…not just tonight but possibly for the rest of your life.

Absolutely loved this. Great writing, felt like I was right there with you.
Is this a true story? She’s a lucky girl. Kudos to you!
