Your Network Determines Your Net Worth

After spending a beautiful week in a beautiful place, I had a bit of an epiphany. I spent a total amount of maybe two hours on my phone twittering, why? I was actually in a place having a good time enjoying my friends and the weather, which is always necessary. Nevertheless I gained a plethora of new followers just by chatting it up and meeting new faces which led me to really begin to respect the power of efficient networking.

Although twitter can be a space to essentially think aloud it can also be the gateway to an amazing network of people doing the same things you are in an no pressure playground to start building important relationships with individuals you may not otherwise be able to. *ponders the possibilities*

So what are you actually putting out into to the world when you tweet? If you are smart about it, you can actually brand yourself entirely by way of Twitter– free.
Some things to consider doing are: operating as a business fully separate from your personal “thought bubble”, create multiple accounts that play to the networks you are trying to create and be cognizant of the fact that someone is always watching.

Utilize the fact that most people now have twitter and when you meet new faces be sure to exchange your @names and keep in touch, especially if you are twittering all day anyway. Twitter is a portal into the brains of your peers and for the most part, you get a well-rounded perspective of people you can potentially be dealing with in mutually beneficial situations.
If you are anything like me and can have the tendency to get a little crazy via Twitter, make sure to create accounts from which you conduct actual business. If you are growing in your career or other aspects of your life just know twitter is a public domain and everything you say is traceable. People are losing their livelihoods off of 140 characters y’all! Don’t become a statistic out here.
To come full circle, social networking enables people to build lasting impressions that matter all while bringing folks together and it would be a waste of a resource to not use it as such. I know I will!

Brand wisely,
